Pocket DSP
Pocket DSP takes several kinds of measurements of your sound system to build a picture of what's going on, what's holding it back, and how to improve the listening experience.
It separates what's the room, what's the speaker design and what's the setup, and shows you how to adjust each one to get the best sound from your system.
Then it builds an EQ from your measurements, matched to the equipment you have, and recommends fixes EQ can't make: placement, aiming, reflections and timing.
Measurement tools like REW are excellent, but they leave the reading to you. Pocket DSP guides you through it: what to measure, what each result means, and what to change first.
Coming to iPhone and iPad. Not on the App Store yet.

What it can tell you
Your EQ, built
Filters made from your measurements, fitted to your gear.
Room modes
Bass notes your room boosts or cancels at your seat.
Room or speaker
Which problems come from the room and which from the speaker.
Beaming
Where the treble narrows and drops off away from center.
Comb filtering
Nearby surfaces reflecting sound back and cancelling parts of it.
Distortion
How cleanly each driver plays, and where it starts to strain.
Crossover
Drivers working against each other where they hand off.
Timing
Drivers reaching your ears at different times.
Ringing
Resonances that keep sounding after the note stops.
Features
Real measurement data, and an app that puts it together for you.
The big picture
Every measurement feeds one answer: what your system is doing, what's limiting it, and whether the fix is EQ, placement, or the speaker itself.
Below the room's transition, it averages several seats. Above it, it uses a sweep with the room gated out. Comparing the two is how it tells room problems from speaker problems.
EQ built from your measurements
Pocket DSP creates an EQ for your system from what it measured, matched to the equipment you're using, whether that's a car DSP, a head unit or an EQ app.
Pick a sound preset and how much you want it to correct, and it does the rest. It won't chase problems EQ can't fix, like dips caused by the room or the speaker itself, so you don't waste power or make things worse.
A full analysis, with fixes beyond EQ
It looks at your speakers and your room together, finds what's holding them back, and tells you whether each issue comes from the speaker or from where you sit.
Then it recommends what to change: sub or seat placement for room modes, treating the surfaces that cause reflections, aiming your speakers, crossover points, and delay and polarity between drivers.
Use your measurement mic
Plug in a USB measurement mic and import its calibration file, so every reading is corrected for that exact mic. It takes both 0° (pointed at the speakers) and 90° (pointed up) files, and uses whichever fits the measurement.
A miniDSP UMIK is recognized automatically. Other mics like the Dayton EMM-6 work with their own file. Your phone's built-in mic still works for quick checks and placement.
Every chart, if you want it
The simple answers come first, but all the advanced data is there to dig into. Zoom into any chart and drag across it to read exact values.
Plus the multi-seat spread, crossover sum, time alignment and the live RTA. Tap any chart to enlarge it. Shown with real measurements from the app.
The tools
